b'FAMILY LIFE CENTER (FLC) FLC was established in 1981 and exists to provide a welcoming and secure facility, offering affordable access toa varietyofrecreationalactivitiesfor the Abilene area communities. FLCisaplacewhereindividualsandfamilies cancometogetherandenjoyskating,bowling, basketball, racquetball, fitness center, fellowship, and games. Many groups such as schools, special needs families, nonprofits, and small businesses in our area come to have fun and relieve stress. CITY LIGHT COMMUNITY MINISTRIES (CLCM)City Light was established in 1996 out of a desire to provide a more comprehensive ministry to some of the more economically disadvantaged people in Abilene.City Light seeks not only to provide for urgent needs but also to come alongside people to assist them in transformational changes that might help prevent these crises in the future and, in the process, honor the dignity of all served. CityLightserveslunchtoallwhowalkinon Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, as well as breakfast on Sunday mornings. City Light friends also have access to City Light Market where they can take home Abilene Food Bank donations of produce, fruit, and other foods. TheCityLightCulinaryAcademywasrecently establishedtoassistpeopleinlearninga marketableandemployableskillwithplansto also add training for wait staff in the future. A case management program has been developed for meeting the most immediate critical financial needs (such as rent, utility, fuel, and bus passes) and then progressing into a more comprehensive service to assist in developing more sustainable habits for the future.29'
